Wittenberg University, The Hagen Center for Civic and Urban Engagement, and Community Alliance for Youth, in cooperation with the Springfield City School District and Springfield Christian Youth Ministries, conducted an After-school Survey Report in May 2010 to assess student participation in after-school activities and possible outside variables that would impact after-school participation. The report found that the most common reason for not participating in after-school activities was a lack of interest, and that students were significantly less likely to participate in after-school activities if a parent had been incarcerated,
