These data measure various statistics relating to the students of the school districts of Clark County, compared to the statistics of districts that have similar levels.

“The Performance Index” is defined by the Ohio Department of Education website as “student performance on the Ohio Achievement Assessments/Ohio Graduate Tests at the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade levels and English I, English II, Algebra I, Geometry, Integrated Math I and Integrated Math II” (see Educational Performance Index).

“Spending per pupil” is the amount of funding spent by each school district in Clark county for each pupil enrolled. These data factor in spending for instructors, referring to cost of teaching supplies, as well as spending expenses such as the cost of school lunches (see Spending per Pupil).

“Economically disadvantaged” are students in the school district who may qualify for assistance such as free-or-reduced-cost lunch programs (see Economically Disadvantaged Students).

“5 year graduation rate” is the rate of students within a district who have graduated for the first time within 5 years of entering ninth grade for the first time. This includes students who graduate for the first time within  four years of entering 9th grade for the first time (see 5 Year Graduation Rate).

“3rd grade reading proficiency” is the percentage of third graders scored proficient or higher on the third grade Reading and Language Arts test distributed by the Ohio Department of Education (see 3rd Grade Reading Proficiency).

“Kindergarten Readiness” is the percentage of children participating in the Kindergarten Readiness Assessment (KRA) in the school districts of Clark County who demonstrated readiness for kindergarten. While there are three different categories that children are placed into based on their scores, these data display only those in the Demonstrating readiness category, which is defined by the Ohio Department of Education as children who enter kindergarten “with sufficient skills, knowledge and abilities to engage with kindergarten-level instruction” (see Kindergarten Readiness).

The Performance Index scores of each of the school districts of Clark County is lower than the scores of each of their similar districts’ scores.

The average spending per pupil of each of the school districts except for Clark Shawnee and Southeastern is lower than the average spending of their similar districts.

The percentage of economically disadvantaged students in each of the school districts except Northeastern, Southeastern and Tecumseh is higher than the percentage in their similar districts.

The 3rd grade reading proficiency of each of the school districts is lower than their similar school districts.

The percentage of kindergarten students demonstrating kindergarten readiness in Clark Shawnee, Northeastern, Northwestern, and Tecumseh is higher than the percentage in their similar districts.
