These data measure the percentage of students who have graduated within 5 years of entering ninth grade for the first time in the different school districts of Clark County.
This percentage is calculated, according to the Ohio Department of Education, by dividing “the number of students who graduate high school in five years or less by the number of students who form the adjusted group for the graduating class.” The adjusted group accounts for students who transferred in or out of the school district during the five year period.
Because the 5-year graduation rate includes students who graduated within four years of entering 9th grade for the first time, the percentage will be higher than the 4-year graduation rate.
Because the information here is not an estimate, but exact percentages, the trends depicted are all statistically significant.
The percentage of students in the Springfield City School District who graduate in 5 years or less is, on average, 11% lower than the percentage in the Tecumseh School District.
In the 2017-2018 school year, Southeastern School District has seen a 5.7% decrease in the graduation percentage, while Northeastern, Northwestern and Greenon have seen slight increases of 1.6%, 0.5% and 0.8%, respectively.
